Late 18th C shops can be found alongside modern shopping centers in this bustling district. A walk through Pagoda Street or Trengganu Street reveals unique finds like Chinese calligraphy, or herbal cures. Little India is the focal point of Singapore’s Indian community. Its spice-scented streets beckon you to a cornucopia of ethnic jewellery, jasmine garlands and silk saris. From the large Tekka Centre and Little India Arcade to the small provision shops, Little India is packed with interesting things to discover. During Deepavali (usually between Oct/Nov), the Indian Festival of Lights, Little India is transformed into a fairyland of gaily decorated, brightly lit streets bustling with shoppers. Supreme Court of Singapore
The building was officially opened on January 7, 2006, by President Sellapan Ramanathan. It accommodates 12 civil courts, eight criminal courts, three appellate courts and accompanying suites of ancillary facilities. Each courtroom is located within a court block that also contains a hearing chamber where the judge may meet with counsel in private; a court conference room for discussions among lawyers and two witness rooms which serve as holding areas for witnesses.
The design of the current Supreme Court building mirrors the Supreme Court’s organizational structure. The courtrooms where the High Court hearings take place are contained in the lower levels of the building, from levels two through six. The Court of Appeal, the highest appellate court in the land, is symbolically raised to the apex of the building and houses at the centre of the disc.

The merlion statue portray the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Its name comes from a portmanteau of mermaid and lion. Mr. Fraser Brunner designed the merlion for the Singapore Tourism Board in 1964 and was used as the STB logo until 1997. The Merlion continues to be a Singapore iconic symbol which appears frequently in STB-approved souvenirs.
The Singapore Merlion icon was promoted by the Singapore Tourism Board’s publicity campaign, the lion head and fish body of the creature recalls the story of the legendary Sang Nila Utama, who saw a lion while hunting on an island, en route to Malacca, eventually named the island Temasek, a precursor to Singapore.
